St. Philip's Community Center - 6th Annual Mother's Day Store

St. Philips will host their 6th Annual Mother's Day Store Saturday, May 7, 9:00am to 12:00 noon. This annual event offers kids from the community around St. Philips a chance to shop for presents for their mothers, free of cost. You can help the kids celebrate the most important person in their lives by donating items for the store.

2011 Circle of Support Girls Camp S.M.A.R.T., and S.M.A.R.T. Boys 2011

Bernadette Nutall will launch the 11th year of the summer learning program called Camp S.M.A.R.T. (Science, Math, Art, Reading, Technology) Monday, June7th at Billy E. Dade School in South Dallas.

Camp S.M.A.R.T. is a high quality interactive fun filled enrichment learning program designed to increase academic performance for at risk boys and girls in South Dallas entering 1st-8th grades. Academic classes are taught Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Classes are taught by certified teachers who are joined in the classroom by a youth teacher assistant insuring maximum student to teacher ratio of 16:1. Enrichment opportunities are offered in the afternoon five days a week on a rotating basis between the hours of 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The program begins Monday June 7 and lasts for eight weeks Monday through Friday. Additional information is available on Camp S.M.A.R.T.'s website www.CircleofSupportDallas.org

Available opportunities include:

  • Volunteer to read from your favorite children’s books to one of the younger grade level classes.
  • Help to serve lunch. Lunch is served every day from 11 to 1.
  • Assist with tutoring in math and reading. Tutoring takes place from 11:30 to 1:00 each day.
  • Volunteer to come speak to a class about your career and the importance of education.
